GFRW members participate in fund raiser

Long time member of the Georgia Federation of Republican Women, Ora Jean Gunnin is pictured with Angela Bean, the group’s most recent member, at a recent fund raising event for the Fayette chapter.

Gunnin has been a member of GFRW for 43 years, eight in Fayette County and 37 in Fulton. She currently serves as the treasurer of the South Fulton chapter as well as chaplin of the Fayette Women's Group. She is on the Executive Committee of the Fayette County Party and on the State Committee of the Georgia Republican Party.

The group, open to Fayette County women of all ages, is active in the community holding voter registration drives, disseminating information on elections, giving candidates and elected officials a forum for expressing their views, and volunteering to help in "grassroots" campaigning.

Through their fundraising efforts, last year they made monetary donations to worthy organizations, including the Pregnancy Resource Center of Fayette, the Fayette Samaritans, and "Supporting Military Families."

The group is currently raising funds to assist the office of the Fayette County District Attorney with their planned Law Enforcement Appreciation Banquet.

The group meets each third Thursday evening of the month at 6:30 p.m. at The Longbranch Restaurant in Fayetteville and all are welcome to attend. For more information on joining the organization contact club president, Phyllis Stoner, at wgspms@aol.com.
