Despite pain of split, church presses onTue, 04/03/2007 - 4:06pm

As you may know, St. Andrew’s in-the-Pines Episcopal Church in Peachtree City has recently gone though a tremendous upheaval. About 45 percent of our congregation decided that they no longer wanted to belong to The Episcopal Church in America (TEC/ECUSA) and joined with the the Convocation of Anglicans in North America (CANA), a mission of the Church of Nigeria under Bishop Akinola. I am one who chose to remain at St. Andrew’s and as the weeks go by the pain of losing so many friends is still with me and our church family. But life goes on and the congregation of St. Andrew’s has now selected a new vestry, who have chosen the Rev. Paul Elliot to be St. Andrew’s interim pastor. We are excited and thankful to welcome him, his wife Susan, and their three children to our parish as we search for a permanent pastor. We thank Bishop Alexander and all in the Diocese who have given their help and prayed for us as we regrow our church. My message is this: St Andrew’s in-the-Pines Episcopal Church is alive and well. We continue to worship and pray; listen to and read the scriptures; recite and believe in the traditional creeds and joyfully receive the Body and Blood of Christ in Holy Communion. All are welcome to worship and pray in our church. Come and join us. Please go to standrewschurch.episcopalatlanta.org/news/index for our Holy Week and Easter services schedule.
