Paper’s focus on a few Scouts shortchanges allTue, 04/03/2007 - 4:01pm

While I applaud The Citizen for featuring the Senior Girl Scouts who achieved their Gold Award, I want to inform The Citizen that they need to look beyond featuring only these select girls, and notice that in fact, recently, several outstanding girls have also attained Girl Scouts’ highest achievement. Why were only these particular girls featured? If The Citizen had done its job correctly they would have found at least five girls from Starr’s Mill These other girls did outstanding projects and added their talents to the community by putting in all of the time necessary for earning the Gold Award. I believe The Citizen should have done more research and not just focus on the girls they featured, but really look at all of the girls and highlight all of their outstanding Gold Award Projects. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Will these other girls be featured in a three-part series? I doubt it, even though they worked just as hard and had to put in the same amount of hours and dedication. Additionally, I believe if more articles were written about all of the Gold Award recipients maybe our younger Girls Scouts would read about their success and follow their example and attain their Gold Award. So, please keep featuring these wonderful girls, and their projects, but include all of the girls in Peachtree City who are awarded the Gold, not just a select few. Beth H.
