Tour of Homes

The Fayetteville First United Methodist Church has held a Christmas Home Tour for over ten years. The next one will be this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3 and 4. The hours are from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Donations for the eight-site event are $15 and can be purchased at the church Family Life Center, or at any of the homes on the tour. Through Friday afternoon, they can also be purchased at the church office, 170 East Lanier Avenue. The telephone number for the church is 770-461-4313.

The donations will go towards the purchase of a new bus for the church. The church has two-thirds of the amount needed for the new bus, and they hope the Christmas Tour will generate the remaining funds. Don Karwisch, chair of the church Transportation Committee, said that they hope to purchase a 33-seat bus with good luggage space. It will allow the youth to go on their annual ministry trip to New York and the seniors to take an overnight tour.

The tour of homes can begin at any of the eight sites. These include the homes of Bill and Nancy Bonner, James and Nancy Tracy, Mike and Paige Munk, Jack and Lisa Rowe, Jerry and Ann Walton, Brian and Cherie Stone, and the development office of Scarbrough and Rolader. It is located in a former 1890’s Victorian house.

Also included is the church Family Life Center where you can bid on a number of items including a commemorative football, signed and numbered by Vince Dooley. Baseball items signed by Jeff Francouer, Phil Niekro and Kyle Davies, and themed gift baskets i.e. popcorn and a movie, chocolate, or a spa basket might interest you in participating in the sealed bid auction. Perhaps a UGA theme or a NASCAR theme basket, complete with tickets to a Spring car race would interest you more.

You can check on Monday at the Family Life Center, from noon to 8 p.m., to see if you won.

It is requested that there be no smoking, no cameras, no cell phones, or children under the age of twelve at the event.
