Starr’s Mill’s varsity baseball team continued their winning ways on Wednesday with an 8-6 win over the McIntosh Chiefs. It was Starr’s Mill’s fourth win in a row, all of them region wins. The Panthers got a home run from Brian Fletcher in the first and Trent Freeman followed, capitalizing on some errors with some smart baserunning to give Starr’s Mill a 2-0 lead. Ken Jackson got a single and his pinch runner scored on an RBI double from Michael Jeanes. McIntosh’s Johnny Peaden would get a run back with a fielder’s choice RBI that would score Cameron Rich. Both teams were not done scoring though and the game got very tight before Starr’s Mill reclaimed the lead for good.

Starr’s Mill’s Will Mathis got the win in relief, giving up three hits and getting four strikeouts, while Ryan Haynie got the save. Fletcher, Jeanes and Terrion Pope each had two hits in the win.
