Lt. James Louis Green, 76, East Point, died March 17, 2007. He was born Feb.7, 1920 in Payne County, Okla. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Helen Cordell Green. He was proud of being a first generation Oklahoma, beginning college at age 16 at Oklahoma A&M. He completed his degree at the age of 30 on the G. I. Bill after returned from World War II. He received the Bronze Star for valor. He was an educator, coach, and administrator for more than 30 years, most of which were spent in the Fulton County school system. In later years he became a published writer and poet. Services were at the Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, with interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery, College Park, with military honors. Survivors include daughters, Cynthia Green Vinson, Fleetwood, Cruso, N. C., and Sandra Mae Green, Destin, Fla.; grandchildren, Geoffrey W. Vinson, Christopher S. Vinson, Paul Jeremy Lewis and Julie Helen Lewis; and great-grandchildren, Mala Simone Vinson, and In Colwyn Vinson. Memorial donations may be made to Southwest Christian Hospice, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291. Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge. login to post comments |
