Thanks to Emily Baldwin for her articles highlighting the Girl Scout Gold Award achievements of Kelly Randolph (my daughter), Cherise Quamme, Evelyn Larson and Sarah Mudrinich. As pointed out in her articles, earning this award is the highlight of the Girl Scout journey, and is the culmination of hours of planning and hard work.

I would like to recognize two parent volunteers who contributed to my daughter’s success, and who make the Girl Scouting program in Fayette County one of the best around.

Ellen Lasseter and Tammi Herrmann have both played an integral part in the Scouting experiences of many girls in Peachtree City.

Ellen Lasseter has been my daughter’s troop leader for many years. She kept the troops’ interest level high by encouraging the girls, and by organizing great trips and activities.

Several of the troop members are currently working toward their Gold Awards. All seven troop members are graduating high school seniors. To have this number of girls continue in the Scouting program through high school is rare and is a testament to Ellen’s dedication to these girls and Scouting.

Tammi Herrmann served as the parent advisor for my daughter’s Gold Award project. She offered encouragement and counsel throughout the various phases of the project. Tammi is a busy mother and troop leader, and also finds time to dedicate to her many church activities. Her support to Kelly was invaluable.

There is no way to adequately thank Ellen And Tammi for the sacrifice of their time on my daughter’s behalf. There are many dedicated adults offering their time and talents to the youth of Fayette County through the Scouting programs (Girls and Boys). Our children are richly blessed by these individuals. I hope that The Citizen’s recognition of the Girl Scout Gold Award achievements encourages others to “go for the Gold”.
