Stop by the Peachtree City Recreation Administration Building and you are most likely to be assisted by Joyce Williams who handles the front desk with efficiency and a smile. Williams was recently honored on both the district and state levels when she was chosen as “Distinguished Administrative Support” staff. The award nomination noted her “can do” attitude, her efficiency, her knowledge of programs and department procedures and her willingness to assist co-workers with their projects and events. The district award was presented to Williams at the banquet held in Troup County. Peachtree City is part of the 4th district, one of 7 districts of the Georgia Recreation and Park Association. This was the first year for this award, which will now be awarded annually. Joyce was honored again when she was chosen as the state winner in this category. She was recognized at the GRPA Annual Conference in Cobb County as the “Distinguished Administrative Support” person for Georgia. “We are very proud that Joyce Williams was recognized for her work here. Our staff is very aware of the value Joyce brings to our office. It was nice for her to be recognized throughout our district and state as a prime example of how important our support staff personnel are to our operations,” commented Sherry McHugh, Recreation Administrator. The volunteer recruitment program, T.E.A.M. PTC (Together Efforts Are Magnified), also won the “Innovative Program” award at both the district and state levels. This program, in its third year, was designed and implemented by Carolyn Stanton, Manager of Leisure Programs. “T.E.A.M. PTC has become a useful tool for our department when planning special events. Our volunteers seem to enjoy helping out too. I know Carolyn is working on starting a teen version called TEEN T.E.A.M. PTC to give middle and high school students the chance to volunteer to help plan and implement special events important to them,” said McHugh. “We were extremely pleased to receive each of these awards,” McHugh said. login to post comments |
