Peachtree City was well represented at the 2 HOT 4 ICE Roller Hockey Tournament at SGAA in Snellville.

For the very first time, Peachtree City had the 8U Warriors team enter a tournament. The team only had 2 practices together before this event. There was another first for the 8U players. It was also the first time they had ever played on a full rink.

8U teams all practice and hold games on a half rink at the PTC Kedron Rink. The coaches of the team, David Driggs, Chris O’Connell, Neil O’Connell and George Weyl were very pleased with the all-out effort their players put forth. The team consisted of Andrew Pyshos, Hunter Iniguez, Zach Pina, Liam O’Connell, Jackson”Hoss” Newton, Jackson Lawlor, Nathan Russo, Andrew Hughes, Jack Driggs, Louis Kriel, William Jewell, Ryan Weyl and Peter Costello. The team hopes to keep practicing and enter some future tournaments.

Our 12U team of Austin Baldwin, Chris Beardsell, Mark Boone, Ben Ebbinghouse, Erik Greene, Sean Kearney, Ben Lisicia, Josh Staley, Kyle Chadwick and Timothy Schnaible was coached by Scott Beardsell. Chris Beardsell was awarded the “Player Maker Award” and Josh Staley scored 4 goals in one game.

In the 16U Division, players were Andrew Sanders, Jake Dorman, Ty Taylor, David Hewson, DJ Rodriquez, Eric Dixon, Sam Lucia, Neilsen Waters, James Morgan and Connor Piggott. Coach Richard Sanders and Assistant Coach Steve Sanders were proud of the team making it to the semi-finals, after David Hewson scored an awesome break-away-goal.

Three Peachtree City boys were asked to play on an 18U Total Hockey team which ended the tournament with a first place trophy. They were – Steven Beardsell, Mitch Deleonardis and Steve Sanders.

At the end of the tournament, Peachtree City’s Sanders was awarded the prestigious “Deebs Young” award. This award was created in Memory of Deebs Young, who was tragically killed in an automobile accident after leaving the 2 Hot 4 Ice National Tournament in 2004. He had just scored the winning goal in the 14U game and was honored as the Points Leader for that division. The Award is given to athletes who demonstrate outstanding character, sportsmanship, dedication and possess the attitude and drive that contributes toward the success of their team.

The Peachtree City Hockey Association is extremely proud of Steven for being presented with this very special award.
