Peachtree City’s Huddleston Pond transformed from an eyesore into a playground Sunday afternoon for Michael Durham, 9, Chase Durham, 4, and Nathan Hunter Jones, 4. The pond’s water level has been low for nearly two years due to significant problems with the dam but the city hopes to have construction start in October. The delay is largely due to the need for wetland disturbance permits from state and federal agencies, city officials said. The city is going to rebuild the entire dam because it was impossible to simply repair the project. Michael and Chase are the sons of Penney Bordeaux of Peachtree City. Nathan is the son of Norman Jones and Lisa Crow de Mars and grandson of Brownie and former Peachtree City Mayor Ralph Jones. Photo/Emily Baldwin. login to post comments |
