Palmetto Police are seeking information on the theft of handguns in the recent burglaries of two local pawn shops.

Detective John Cooper said the burglaries occurred March 1 at The Pawn House at 582 Main Street and on March 8 at The Pawn Shop at 202 Fayetteville Road.

Burglars in the March 1 break-in entered by forcing open the store’s front door. Items stolen included 12 handguns and an Xbox video game system, Cooper said.

The March 8 burglary at The Pawn Shop was unsuccessful, Cooper said. Thieves pushed in the Plexiglas on the front door but did not steal any of the store’s contents.

The investigation into the burglaries is ongoing. Anyone with information concerning the burglaries is asked to contact Det. John Cooper at Palmetto Police Department at (770) 463-9068.
