McIntosh soccer teams sweep Whitewater

The McIntosh boys and girls soccer teams got significant 1-0 region wins over their Whitewater counterparts tonight.

The goal in the boys game was scored by Michael Mateos in the first half after some confusion in front of the Whitewater net. The Lady Chiefs got their goal in the second half of their game. It was scored by K.C. Hewitt and Olivia Tucker got the assist.

"It was a very important win for us," said coach Marcia Clark of the Lady Chiefs' victory. "We needed this." The win gives McIntosh, Whitewater and Starr's Mill all one loss in the region. Clark stated that she was pleased that the team continued to attack and put pressure on the Lady Wildcats after the goal.

Discussing the win by the boys team, coach Bunky Colvin stated that team speed was the key to putting an enormous amount of pressure on Whitewater.

The boys will face Chamblee, the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year, and Marist next week, whle the girls will play St. Pius before their game with Marist next Saturday.
