Students and teachers alike have no doubt begun the official countdown to summer. With state tests quickly approaching and weather finally beginning to warm up, everyone knows summer is just around the corner. Now Fayette County students and teachers have a new reason to be excited in 2007 – a chance to win academic prizes worth more than $5,000 from their local Club Z! In-Home Tutoring Services. “Students and teachers have their hands full with all of the testing coming up next month. We just wanted to give back and encourage them to finish the semester strong, and help get their summer off to the right start,” said local Club Z! owner Peggy Thomas of Fayetteville. Open to all 10th and 11th grade students in Fayette County, Club Z!’s 2007 essay contest will offer prizes including academic preparation courses and cash awards, all valued at over $5,000. Additionally, all students will receive a $50 gift certificate good toward the tutoring program of their choice just for entering. It doesn’t end there, however, the winning contestant’s English teacher will also receive a $250 gift card good toward classroom supplies. Everyone is truly a winner with Club Z!’s essay contest. Club Z!, a provider of one-on-one, in-home tutoring in all subjects pre-K through college, is excited to provide this opportunity for Fayette County students and teachers. According to Thomas, “We can’t think of a better way to continue our motto of educating the world one student at a time, than to encourage extracurricular writing and foster language skills in the students in Fayette County.” All essays, which are limited to no more than 500 words, will be judged by a panel of local Club Z! tutors and academicians on the basis of organization, syntax, grammar and support of the theme. Students are encouraged to ask their English teachers for a copy of the application and rubric. All entries are due by midnight on Friday, April 13.
