Cleveland Elementary’s PTO kicked off its ongoing multicultural program with a concert by the Latin trio ”Tahino.” The group performed multiple musical arrangements with sounds from all over Latin America.

Since September was National Hispanic Heritage Month, the school’s PTO decided to begin the year with a visit to the country of Colombia. Students were able to encounter a variety of unique presentations teaching them about the cultures and customs of Colombia. The students learned about the country’s climate, variety of landscapes, agricultural importance, diversity of animals, major cities, government, education, music, industries, and even sampled some native foods.

The program, completely arranged by parents and friends of the school, was supported by the Columbian Consulate, which provided many authentic items for display. The two-day long visit to Latin America and Colombia offered a rich glimpse into another culture and won’t soon be forgotten by Cleveland students and staff.
