Though they had led by as many as 20 points in the first half and had a 16 point lead early in the fourth quarter, the Landmark Christian School Lady War Eagles were not able to hang on for the win against the Hawkinsville Lady Red Devils in the Class A state basketball championship.

Hawkinsville went on a 21-2 run in the fourth quarter, took their first lead of the game with 48 seconds remaining and didn't look back. Landmark's free throw shooting was perhaps their biggest downfall of the day as they got to the line over 20 times and shot below 50 percent.

The final score was 49-48.

Landmark finishes with a 30-3 record overall.
