Griffin Tech 2007 GOAL nominees

Griffin Technical College recently announced the nomination of 36 students for the 2007 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) at a reception held Feb. 12. The annual GOAL program recognizes students who possess excellence in leadership and ability. Chosen for recognition by their instructors, the nominees from Fayette County include: Kayla Brooks, medical assisting student; Lori Callahan, cosmetology student; Kim Mavros, medical assisting student; Julie Veilleux, radiologic technology student; and Stephanie Woerfel, radiologic technology student.

"The purpose of the GOAL program is to spotlight the importance of technical education in today's workplace and to recognize outstanding achievement by students in Georgia's technical colleges," said Barbara Jo Cook, GOAL Coordinator. Griffin Tech's GOAL winner will speak on behalf of Griffin Technical College to promote technical education throughout the community and state.

After an interview process, one winner will be chosen from the 36 candidates as the Griffin Technical College nominee for the title of state GOAL winner. The local winner will compete in May at the state level against representatives from Georgia's 34 other technical colleges. The winner of the state GOAL title will receive the GOAL medallion and the grand prize of a new automobile.
