Girl Scouts help the homelessTue, 03/06/2007 - 5:08pm
By: The Citizen
The Girl Scouts of Junior Troop 163 recently participated in the "From Our Heart to Yours" Shoe-box Project, a program headed by United Way Women's Legacy. These Girl Scouts worked with other volunteers to pack shoe-boxes with toiletry items to be distributed to homeless women and children in shelters around Atlanta. This service project put into action the discussions the troop has been having about homelessness and hunger and ways the girls can help others. The girls of Troop 163 are fifth graders at Kedron and Crabapple Lane Elementary Schools in Peachtree City. The troop is led by Marsha McCranie and Janet Daugherty.
