Alex J. Hunt, a sophomore in the DuPree College of Management, has been named to the dean's list at Georgia Institute of Technology for the fall 2006 semester. The dean's list recognizes full-time students who have maintained a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Hunt is the son of Joe and Karen Hunt of Peachtree City, Ga. and a 2005 honor graduate of Starr's Mill High School.

• Marine Private Adam T. Akins has graduated from USMC Basic Training at Parris Island, South Carolina. The most rigorous of basic U.S. military training, the Corpsman spent 13 weeks in studying USMC history, physical training, military codes of conduct, martial arts, basic warfare, and rifle training, where he received the top mark of "rifle expert." Akins was a member of the Third Batallion, Lima Company, Platoon 3008. The son of Thomas and Linda Akins of Tyrone, Private Akins is a 2005 graduate of Sandy Creek High School. He now goes to Marine Combat Training at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and then on to his Military Occupational Specialty in Utilities/Construction Engineering.

Steven B. White of Peachtree City, Ga. was named to the dean's list for the fall 2006 semester at Virginia Tech. To qualify for the dean's list, students must attempt at least 12 credit hours graded on the A-F option and earn a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester. White is a senior majoring in aerospace engineering in the College of Engineering.

Sarah Capati has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2006 semester at Berry College in Rome Ga., where she is pursuing a double major in business management and Spanish. Capati is a 2006 graduate of Starr’s Mill High School where she was a member of the varity soccer team. She is now playing for Berry College. Capati’s parents are Kevin and Janet Capati of Peachtree City.
