Edward Alan Thompson, Lt. Col. , retired, 51, Fayetteville, formerly of Jefferson, Ga, died Feb. 26, 2007. He had served in the United States Army for 22 years. He was employed as a security consultant with Pfizer Incorporated, a member of the Police Regimental Association, and was of the Baptist faith. Memorial services were at the First Baptist Church of Jefferson with Evangelist Joe Campbell officiating. Interment was with full military honors at the Evans Memory Gardens, Jefferson, Ga. Survivors include his wife, Diane Cain Thompson, Fayetteville; parents, Edward "Ed" and Shirley Edwards Thompson, Jefferson; brothers, Michael and Angi Thompson, Athens, and Philip and L. Resu Thompson, Jefferson; and a brother-in-law, Dennis and Penny Cain, Jefferson. Memorial donations may be given to the Jefferson City School Foundation, 575 Washington St., Jefferson, GA 30549. Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge.
