PTSO holds college prep forum for parents March 5Fri, 03/02/2007 - 2:27pm
By: The Citizen
McIntosh High School PTSO will present the inaugural parents’ forum entitled “Parents' Tips For College Planning: Practical Action You Can Take Now!” which will be held on Monday, March 5, at 7 p.m., in the McIntosh media center. This event will be preceded by a brief PTSO business meeting at 6:30 p.m. for interested parents. The PTSO plans to hold annual forums on various subjects of interest to parents. In addition to having parents sharing their own personal tried and true college tips and scholastic strategies, the PTSO is honored to have as the featured guest for this forum Tyler Peterson, associate admissions director at Birmingham-Southern College. Parents will hear an admissions perspective of what they can do now so their children will be ready for college. The theme of the forum is that it's never too early to start planning because decisions parents and their children make as early as eighth grade will have an impact on their college career. Likewise, things students do as high school freshmen and sophomores - whether academic, extracurricular or altruistic - will greatly impact their ability to attain success as a graduating senior. Child care is not available, and this event is intended for parents only. For more information call PTSO president Cele Eifert at 404-667-8906. login to post comments |
