Mrs. Doris Carey of Fayetteville announces the engagement of her daughter, Laura Deanne Carey, to Christopher Wade Brown, son of Doug and Nancy Brown of Norcross.

The bride-elect is the daughter of the late Donald D. Carey and granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Floyd D. Carey, Sr., of Atlanta, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin I. Cason of Sparta. She is a 1996 graduate of Sandy Creek High School and a 2001 graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology, with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering. She is employed by Midtown Mission Church of God.

The groom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Brown and the grandson of the late Mrs. Ruth Wiles of Memphis,Tenn., and Mrs. Bertye Mae Brown and the late Harlan P. Brown. He is a 1998 graduate of Meadowcreek High School and a 2003 graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology, with a bachelor’s degree in physics. He is employed at Midtown Mission Church of God as youth and children’s pastor and is pursuing a masters in divinity degree at the Church of God Theological Seminary in Cleveland, Tenn.

The wedding will be Dec. 3, 2005, at First Baptist Church of Fayetteville followed by a reception at the Hollingsworth House.
