Sharpsburg Sharpies Drama Team of Sharpsburg Baptist Church is presenting their annual dinner theatre over St. Patty’s weekend. “A Wedding and a Funeral,” a two-act comedy, premieres March 15-17 at 7 p.m. A Sunday dessert matinee has now been added on March 18 at 2 p.m.

Ticket and reservations manager Angela Tinsley stated: “Since ticket sales have been overwhelming and most night performances are sold out, the cast wanted to offer the extra show on Sunday. The Sunday dessert matinee will only cost $10; patrons should have a leisurely lunch before arriving and then enjoy dessert and the play at 2 p.m..”

Cost of the dinner theatre on Thursday-Saturday nights is $20, which includes a delicious meal, coffee/tea, dessert and the play. It will all take place at Sharpsburg Baptist Fellowship Hall at 6413 Ga. Highway 54 in Sharpsburg. Tickets are going fast, so contact their Ticket Hotline at 770-599-6496 or e-mail sbcdramateam@yahoo.com with your request.

The play is a comedy about a preacher, his family and parishioners who arrive at their new country church in a small Georgia town. Their church life unfolds with glimpses of beloved and …well, not so beloved parishioners.

The play is “family friendly” for ages 6 and up. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the Thursday-Saturday night performances and at 1:45 p.m. for the Sunday dessert matinee. Most of the proceeds from the play will go towards a larger fellowship hall or building.

The authors are local Cowetans and two of the Drama Team members, Gloria Hahn (Glo) Tinsley and Karen Ridenhour.
