William L. Brown, 66, Tyrone, died Feb. 23, 2007. He was born March 8, 1940 in Duval County, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Brown. He was a graduate of Russell High School and North Georgia College. He served in the United States Army. He was employed by International Harvester and Mack Trucks before becoming owner and president of Standard Transfer Company. He served in leadership roles for many service organizations and schools including The Arlington Schools Inc. and the Alumni Council of North Georgia College. He was an active member of First Christian Church of Tyrone. He piloted airplanes both privately and professionally, retiring from the Flight Department of Fuqua Capital Corporation. Services were at First Christian Church of Tyrone with Minister Billy Rowe and Minister Ralph Warren officiating. Interment was at Park Hill Cemetery, Columbus, Ga. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Brenda Norwood Brown, Tyrone; children, Leigh Brown Berry, Charlotte, N. C., Jeffrey A. and Lisa Brown, Columbus, Ga., and Mollie Brown and Jamison Leigh, Charleston S. C.; and grandchildren, Jacqueline, Megan, and Lauren Berry, Lindsey and Elizabeth Brown, and J. H. and Mary Lillian Leigh. Memorial donations may be made to Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291, or North Georgia College and State University, in care of NGCSU Foundation, Inc., 70 Alumni Drive, Dahlonega, GA 30533.
