Marvin Lester Knowles, 81, Fayetteville, died Feb. 22, 2007. He was born April 21, 1925 in Fayette County, son of James Edward and Mae Lilly Harris Knowles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Cobb Knowles. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam, having served in the United States Navy. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Ray Waters and the Rev. Scott Pickering officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include his wife, Jo Smith Knowles, Fayetteville; a son, Burt and Jeanie Knowles, Stockbridge; a daughter, Michelle Knowles and Paul James Maynard, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Tina Bedwell, Al Knowles, Dana Welch, Alison Maynard, P. J. Maynard Jr., and Maggie Maynard; seven great-grandchildren; and siblings, Dot Stanley, Betty Coker, Joyce Jones, Ruben Knowles, Leon Knowles, Larry Knowles, and Edward Knowles, all of Fayetteville, Joan Wilson, Griffin, and Louise Winkles, Tyrone. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
