Christian Alexander of Fayetteville has been awarded the Clif and Ruth Jones Endowed Scholarship, the Goodman Family Endowed Scholarship, the Robert O. and Juanita R. Barker Endowed Scholarship, the Cleo T. McAlhany Endowed Scholarship, and the Whitehead Scholarship at Charleston Southern University. Alexander, a sophomore psychology major, is the son of Randy and Kim Alexander. He is a member of the psychology club.

• Air Force Airman Devon M. Stillions graduated from the Electronic Computer and Switching Systems Apprentice Course at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss. The course is designed to train airmen to install, maintain, repair, overhaul, and modify mobile and fixed high speed general and special purpose computer and switching systems and networks, missile control communications systems. electronic computer switching and associated data transmitting, processing, and display equipment. He is the son of Keith M. and Nancy Stillions of Fayetteville, Ga.

Kathy Cox is being honored by the Fayette-Starr's Mill Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution as a "Notable Woman of History in Fayette County" for the month of February to commemorate American History Month, and for the month of March to commemorate Women’s History Month. A poster of Cox is featured in the Peachtree City Library display case and at the Fayette County Public Library and Tyrone Public Library. As the State Superintendent of Schools and the Chief Executive Officer of the State Board of Education, Kathy Cox has led Georgia's 181 public school districts since her election in November of 2002. She has made countless contributions to public education through her 15 years as a classroom teacher and her service for two terms in the Georgia Legislature as a State Representative. Superintendent Cox successfully oversaw the implementation of No Child Left Behind legislation and led the creation and adoption of the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS), a statewide curriculum for all of Georgia's students. The Peachtree City DAR chapter sponsors Cox, a Peachtree City resident, through their American History Committee, as an outstanding woman of history in Fayette County.
