International worship leader coming to FayetteTue, 02/27/2007 - 4:19pm
By: The Citizen
One of England’s best-known Christian music ministers, Godfrey Birtill, will lead worship events in Fayette County March 8-11. Birtill, who has become known as a prophetic minstrel, is untrained as a musician yet, a spokesperson said, “ ... he is incredibly gifted in writing songs that penetrate deeply into the heart and spirit.” Hosted by mission agency Operation Mobilization, Birtill will minister at Grace Evangelical Church March 8 and 11, at Peachtree Christian Fellowship on March 9 and will lead a seminar for worship leaders on March 10. All events are open to the community. It has been said that Birtill’s unique blending of worship and intercession is, in part, an inheritance from his Moravian roots. His family’s Moravian heritage dates back to the early 1700s and includes hymn writer James Montgomery (“Angels From the Realms of Glory”) as one of Birtill’s ancestors. He has led worship and done “Song and Intercession” workshops across the UK, South Africa, Europe and America, including workshops on a Navajo reservation. He also leads worship at Grapevine International Celebration where more than 10,000 people gather for worship in Lincolnshire, UK, each year. Birtill has released nine live CDs of his songs, and a new studio CD (recorded in Nashville) is now available. For more information, visit www.godfreyb.com. The Fayette events, all of which are open to the community, are scheduled for: • Thursday, March 8, 7 p.m. until late, Grace Evangelical Church Flat Creek Road, Fayetteville.
