Eight local basketball teams have made the state tournaments in their respective classifications. There will be three games tonight and five tomorrow. Sandy Creek’s girls (21-5), the second seed out of region 6-AAA, will host the North Hall Lady Trojans (17-11) at 6 p.m. tonight. Coach Leslie Cooper expects to see a good battle between the two teams’ post players and point guards. Up the road a bit in Fairburn, Landmark Christian’s Lady War Eagles, aka the Brickhouse Belles will host Lakeview Academy at 7 p.m. Landmark won the region 5-A title. The Hunnicutt sisters, Christian and Diamond, have been dominant all season for Landmark, which has won 16 games in a row. Lakeview’s Lady Lions are 6-2 over their last eight games. Starr’s Mill’s Lady Panthers will travel to Evans to face the Greenbrier Lady Wolfpack at 6 p.m. tonight. The first game on Saturday will be Landmark’s boys at Tallulah Falls at 2 p.m. The War Eagles are the third seed from Class A. They have gone 3-2 over their last five games but have gelled together and played well this year.Tallulah Falls has won five of their last seven games. The boys (23-5) have been led by sophomore Noel Johnson but have also received tremendous team support from Brandon Boykin, Cuincy Carruthers and Derrick Walker to name a few. The McIntosh Chiefs (11-16), the fourth seed from region 2-AAAA, will play their first state basketball game in school history on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Richmond Academy.
