Senoia’s park on Seavy Street could be quite a showplace when its completed later this year.

The City Council voted Monday night to spend just under $40,000 for surfacing at the park around the new playground equipment. City administrator Richard Ferry explained the surface material would be shredded rubber, which would be durable and inhibit weed growth.

“Right now, we’ve got sand and a lot of weeds,” he explained.

The park is getting a complete makeover and will feature new playground equipment, landscaping and the city’s new library.

In other news, the City Council decided to put future bid items on various municipal websites, instead of advertising in the the Times Herald.

“They just don’t have the circulation that we need,” Ferry said.
