This Saturday the Peachtree City Library will play host to an After Hours Author Event featuring nationally known author Steve Eubanks. The event will be held downstairs at the library at 7 p.m. on Feb. 24 and is open to the public.

Eubanks is the author of 25 non-fiction sports books and boasts by-lines in such prominent magazines as Sports Illustrated, Golf Digest, PGA Tour Insider, and newspapers such as USA Today and the Los Angeles Times.

While Eubanks is a nationally acclaimed author, it is Peachtree City he calls home. Saturday marks his first speaking appearance at the Peachtree City Library, one both he and event organizers are excited about; “I’m really looking forward to it,” said Eubanks.

Eubanks will speak to attendees about the ins and outs of being an author and getting published. “I want to talk about how you sort of break in, particularly in the book publishing industry,” said Eubanks. “I understand the trepidation and anxiety [which comes with that].”

The event will feature a talk by Eubanks as well as a reading from his first novel, “Hot Laps,” which was published by Harper Collins. While the official release date for “Hot Laps” was February 1, Eubanks was at the Daytona 500 last weekend for a book release party.

“Hot Laps” is a stockcar thriller centered around the world of NASCAR racing. His protagonist, Robert “Redball” Redding, was a legend on the stockcar circuit - until a brutal crime made him hang up his helmet and race suit. Now he draws big crowds and good press as one of North Carolina’s hottest prosecuting attorneys. Just as he’s poised to move up to a federal gig, someone throws a monkey wrench into the machinery.

Eubanks’s deal with Harper Collins extends to a second book in the “Hot Laps” series, and his second novel, “Down Force,” is scheduled for release in August.

A Q&A is scheduled for after Eubank’s talk, and aspiring writers are encouraged to attend.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call Rebecca Watts at the Peachtree City Library at 770-631-2520.
