Nineteen year-old Riverdale resident Brian Talaiferro Smith is still being sought by Union City Police in the Nov. 11 shooting of five teenagers at Union Station Apartments on Flat Shoals Road. Two of the victims remain hospitalized.

Union City Police Sgt. George Louth said the multiple shooting led to five active warrants for aggravated assault, five charges of aggravated battery and one count of participating in a criminal street gang. Smith is an apparent member of a south metro street gang based in Clayton County, Louth said. He described Smith as six-feet, two inches tall and weighing 165 pounds.

A 13 year-old female and four males, ages 15-17, were shot in the incident. The female remains hospitalized after losing her gall bladder and one kidney as a result of the shooting. Also hospitalized is a male who suffered gunshots in the shoulder, arm and upper leg. The remaining victims have been released by medical providers. Two of the teenagers had been shot in the lower leg while the fifth victim had been shot in the upper leg.

Louth said the incident occurred after a party at an adjoining apartment complex had been broken up and some of those attending moved to a vacant apartment at Union Station. It was in the area of Building 34 where the shots were fired, he said.

Louth said Smith was connected or involved in an incident in Riverdale last year where a four year-old child was killed during a shoot-out between rival gangs.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Brian Smith is asked to contact Union City Police at (770) 964-1333.
