A manufacturer of small ammunitions will soon be calling Tyrone home. American Ballistics got the OK from the Town Council last week to locate a manufacturing facility in Shamrock Park. President John Maltenieks had appeared before the Town Council earlier this year and explained that he wanted to locate the facility in the town, and that it would not pose any danger to Tyrone. Town Manager Barry Amos said his concern was that the industrial park had only one entrance and that he wanted to check with the county’s public safety officials about the safety ramifications of opening a facility in the park. As part of the approval, Amos said he wanted another emergency exit at the industrial park before it could be opened. Councilman Lyn Redwood also urged the owner to be extra cautious when using any chemicals at the facility. “There’s nothing that’s more dangerous than gasoline there,” said Maltenieks. login to post comments |
