It seems that South Fulton County is always on the radar screen these days. This week was no exception, when Gov. Sonny Perdue named Chattahoochee Hills resident Steve Nygren to the board of Georgia Dept. of Community Affairs.

Representing the 13th Congressional District, Nygren is the managing partner of Serenbe Development, the group currently developing the first hamlet in the Chattahoochee Hill Country.

ā€œIā€™m excited about representing the people of the 13th district,ā€ Nygren said after the appointment.

Nygren owns and manages the Serenbe Bed and Breakfast and the Serenbe Conference Center, also located in the Chattahoochee Hill Country. He is past chairman of the Georgia Hospitality and Travel Association, the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Chattahoochee Hill Country Alliance and the Chattahoochee Hill Country Concurrence. Nygren attended the University of Colorado.

Nygren also founded Peasant Restaurants, which has grown to 34 operations in eight states under his ownership.
