If you forgot to submit your student’s affidavit residency, you child is no longer enrolled in the Coweta County School System.

School system spokesperson Dean Jackson confirmed that letters went out today to residents who did not provide the required documentation to prove they lived in the county.

Last week, more than 1,700 residents had not turned in the documents, but Jackson expects that number to be significantly lower.

“We’ve had some anecdotal information from some school that they were only missing three or four students,” he said.

While students won’t be actually removed from classes today, Jackson said the letter will inform parents that they will have to re-enroll their students.

The tardy parents are getting a little bit of a break with the school schedule, since students won’t be in classes next week because of the Presidents’ Day holiday and winter break.

But come Feb.26, students won’t be allowed to attend classes until the affidavits are provided.

“We’re just hoping it will be a pretty low number,” Jackson added.
