A new Anglican Church fellowship has formed in Newnan in association with the Anglican Mission in the Americas.

The recently formed New Life in Christ Anglican Church meets on Sunday afternoons at 3 p.m. at 95 White Oak Dr. and is supported by Trinity Anglican Church in Douglasville, a 3-year-old congregation that is also part of the Anglican Mission in the Americas.

Leading the new mission work in Newnan is the Rev. Steven J. Saul.

Worship, including Holy Communion, is held twice a month in Newnan, where people gather and experience the Lord’s Supper, the Word, and fellowship. On the other two Sundays, the fellowship conducts a Compline Prayer Service followed by Bible study and fellowship
Saul, his wife, Debbie, and two sons, moved to Douglasville in August 2005. Prior to receiving the call, Saul was the executive pastor of St. Andrew’s Church in Little Rock, Ark. He pursed the ordained ministry in 1998 after a career in banking, corporate training, and financial/human resource systems management for the state of Texas.

“Statistics show that there are 130 million people in the U.S. who are unchurched and have no connection to a local community of faith,” Saul said. “I believe people desire to grow in relationship with others and also want to know more about topics like, ‘What happens after I die?’ or ‘Who is Jesus?’ or ‘What does the Bible have say that applies to me today?’ We live in a world that does not promote spiritual growth and relationship with a loving God. My heart for this new mission is to open up many homes and someday a church in Newnan and Peachtree City where people can grow in faith and create an environment for people to come and worship our great God.”

The Anglican Mission in the Americas is a missionary outreach of the Anglican Province of Rwanda in Africa. Its mission is centered on reaching the unchurched in the United States, and has added on average one church every three weeks since it was established in 2000.

In the last seven years, the Anglican Mission has grown from eight to 109 affiliates, with over 70 other groups in various stages of formation.

Among the purposes of the Anglican Mission is to build an alliance of congregations in America which are committed to gathering, planting and serving dynamic churches in the Anglican tradition.
