A unique Lenten journey will be the focus of a special parish retreat at Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Feb. 24-27. The Lenten presentation will be made by Sister Susan Arcaro and Sister Barbara Young, two Cenacle Sisters from Hoschton. The first session begins Sunday, Feb. 25, at 4 p.m. and is entitled “Sojourn into the Desert of Our Lives.” The evening prayer and reflection will be followed by a simple Lenten supper at the new church. The program continues on Monday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. with “The Christian Model of Discipleship.” The concluding portion of the retreat will be held at Saint Mary Magdalene’s Lenten Penance Service on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. when the topic will be “Permission to Forgive.” Both Sister Susan and Sister Barbara are experienced spiritual and retreat directors and have directed missions and retreats throughout the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Advanced registration for the Lenten supper should be made by Feb. 18. To reserve a seat at the Lenten table on Sunday, Feb. 25, at 4 p.m. contact chairperson Sharon Burke, 770-304-8729. The retreat is sponsored by the parish’s stewardship committee. Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church’s new building was formally dedicated in special rites last week by Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory.
