Jim and Ashley Sams of Newnan announce the birth of their son, John Compton Sams, born Dec. 19, 2006, at 7:40 p.m., at Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville. John weighed 7 lbs., 8 ozs., and was 20 inches long. Grandparents are John and Cherry Byrd and Dr. Jim and Marie Sams, both of Fayetteville. Great grandparents are Ray and Betty Byrd of The Villages, Fla. and Drs. Ferrol and Helen Sams of Fayetteville.
