The Coweta County spiritual community is still in shock after one of its members was killed on a mission trip in Honduras.

Martha Fuller, 62, of Newnan, was on her third trip to Honduras, said her pastor, Med Roach, of Newnan First United Methodist Church, when the bus she was traveling in lost control and went over a cliff.

“Martha and her husband Mike were members of our church for 10 years and she headed up the missions committee,” Roach said.

Martha had made seven mission trips, and she was the only one from Newnan First United Methodist on this trip.

“Normally, she’d have 10-12 people with her, but this was one of those pick-up trips where folks from several churches got together and went,’ he added.

Services for Fuller will be late next week after her body arrives from Honduras.

“She was just so unbelievably energetic and did her part for local charities, also. She would tell us when it was time to help the food pantry. She will be greatly missed.”
