Chitose Sasaki, chairperson of the Women’s Committee of the Japanese American Friendship Society, presented English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher Nancy Ricker with a $500 donation to be used for classroom teaching aids at a recent ceremony. Ricker teaches ESL at the Gazebo at the recreation center in Peachtree City. Last year, the women’s committee donated books, magazines and videos about Japan to the library. In 2004, the monies were given to the Field of Hope in Peachtree City. This year Ricker was chosen to receive the donation for her dedication and hard work in preparing for and teaching classes in ESL. A new TV with DVD/VCR capability was purchased for the classroom with the funds. login to post comments |
