Local swim teams send qualifiers to state meetWed, 02/07/2007 - 11:38am

Starting today, the state swimming meet will take place at Westminster and there will be numerous representatives from local schools. Menchinger will swim in the 50 free, the 100 free, the 200 free, the 500 free, the 100 back and the 200 IM, while Toro will swim in the 50 and 100 free. The Whitewater boys will also compete in the 200 medley and freestyle relays and the 400 freestyle relay. The 200 medley relay team consists of Menchinger, Toro, Jeremy Wingate and Daniel Harlow. The 200 free rely team is made up of Peter Menke, Brandon Mason, Jaren Beckwith and Harlow. The 400 free relay team is Menke, Harlow, Beckwith and Menchinger. Starr’s Mill is sending 14 swimmers overall. The men are seniors Austin Ellyson and Alex Tovani, junior Matt Boyle, and freshmen Chris Hall and David Wright. For the Lady Panthers seniors Lauren Cartwright, Kristen Schroder and Bailey Garrot, junior Sarah Larson, sophomores Bailey Cartwright, Katie Haycraft, Lauren Scott and Lauren Beatty, and freshman Kristen Bates. The Lady Panthers are ranked first in two out of three relays, and hope to place in the top three in the women’s competition. Lauren Cartwright qualified in the 200 free, the 200 IM, the 100 fly, the 100 free, the 100 back and the 100 breast. She was a state champion in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly last year. McIntosh has four swimmers that are swimming individual events as well as on relay teams. They are Keaton Hannon, Alex Harmon, Adam Otaki and Nicole Roddenbery. Hannon qualified for the 200 free, the 200 IM, the 50 free, the 100 fly and the 100 free, while Harmon qualified for the 200 free, the 200 IM and the 500 free. Otaki qualified for the 100 breast and Roddenberry qualified for the 200 IM, the 50 free, the 100 fly, the 100 free and the 100 back. Relay only swimmers for McIntosh are Marcus Burk, Brian Forsyth, Allison Gair, Corbin Heard, Kaitlin Rassett, Jim Roddenbery, Rose Tortora, Sarah Trapaga, Hannah Williams. There are also several alternates that are members of McIntosh’s state team; Tyler Cordell, Kevin Dietze, Ryan Morton and Grace Robertson. Landmark Christian’s Lauren McGuire qualified in the 50 free, the 100 fly and the 100 free. |
