Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin is alerting consumers that Morgan Foods of Austin, Indiana, is voluntarily recalling 6,317 pounds of chicken noodle soup because it contains milk and soy without listing them on the label. The soup was sold at Kroger stores.

The product label indicates that the can contains chicken noodle soup. However, the can contains chicken, potato and broccoli soup with cheese.

“People with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk or soy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product,” said Commissioner Irvin.

The following product is being recalled:

18.6-ounce cans of “Kroger, ready to serve SOUP, CHUNKY Classic Chicken Noodle.” Each label bears the establishment number “P-1469” inside the USDA seal of inspection. The bottom of each can also bears the “Best by” date and package code “BB 10/26/08, CCBRP J2606.”

The soup was produced on October 26, 2006, and was distributed to retail stores nationwide.

“Consumers with concerns may return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund,” said Commissioner Irvin.
