It will be mainly housekeeping duties Feb. 1 at Fayetteville City Council. The council will conduct public hearings on the second reading of amendments to the Proportionate Share Ordinance and the Development Impact Fee Ordinance.

The two amendments address financial incentives for redevelopment in the Main Street District. The amendment would grant a 50 percent reduction in sewer proportionate share fees for properties where the redevelopment will increase the ad valorem tax by 50 percent over the tax levied in the year prior to redevelopment.

Also at the meeting, the council will also hear the first reading of a proposed ethics ordinance. Though the city currently has conflict of interest provisions in place, a more encompassing Georgia Municipal Association-recommended ethics ordinance is being considered for approval. The proposed ordinance was discussed at the council’s fall retreat.
