McIntosh, Mercy and Landmark sweep their region opponents on Tuesday

Several schools swept their opponents in basketball on Tuesday night, either offering their fans more of the same play they were used to or glimpses of their team’s turning a corner.
McIntosh’s boys and girls played at Whitewater. The Lady Chiefs (12-7, 7-5) defeated the Lady Wildcats (3-17, 1-10) 45-30 with Elyse Chubb and Erin Justice each scoring 15 points for McIntosh. Katie McCreary led Whitewater with eight points. The McIntosh boys (7-11, 4-7 region) led for almost the entire game and won 60-51. Patrick Michel scored 16 points for McIntosh and Jeremy Lampkin added 12 points. Whitewater (12-7, 6-5 region) was led by 14 points from Zach Scurry and nine points from Stephen Sargent.

McIntosh will host Starr’s Mill tonight, while Whitewater will play at Creekside. McIntosh will play at Hiram tomorrow. Starr’s Mill was off on Tuesday night.

Northgate’s boys and girls had the tough task of facing Westlake on Tuesday. The Lady Vikings(6-10, 3-8 region) lost 62-46 with Sarah Spiller and Natalie Pluskota each scoring 16 points. The boys (3-13, 1-10) lost 68-24 and were led by 11 points from Alex Hammond. Northgate is off until next Tuesday when they host Fayette County.

Fayette County’s boys and girls split with Woodward Academy. The boys (15-5, 10-2) won 74-63 behind 32 points and 12 rebounds from Noel Johnson and 11 points from Terrance Turner. The Lady Tigers (13-5, 10-2 region) lost 36-33 with Kristene Walker scoring 12 points.

Fayette County will host Westlake tonight.

In 4-AAAAA, East Coweta split with Tri-Cities. The Lady Indians (7-13, 4-5 region) won 49-30 with LaBrittany Stokes scoring 22 points and Meghan Downes chipping in 13 more. The boys (7-10, 2-7 region) lost 68-62. Kendrick Hugley-Brown scored 20 for East Coweta and Mario Ford added 13.

East Coweta will host Newnan tonight.

In 6-AAA, Sandy Creek split with Cedartown. The boys (13-5, 6-3 region) lost 80-74 and the Lady Patriots (16-2, 8-1) won 55-33. Sandy Creek will host Carrollton tonight and will host Banneker tomorrow.

In 5-A action, Our Lady of Mercy swept Galloway. The boys (14-5, 3-4 region) won 59-51. The Lady Bobcats (11-8, 3-4 region) won 56-26. They were led by 16 points and 13 rebounds from Alex Miles, 14 points from Raven Moore and 13 points from Camille Thompson. Our Lady of Mercy will play at Whitefield Academy tonight and will host W.D. Mohammed tomorrow.

The Landmark Lady War Eagles (19-2, 7-1 region) defeated Greenforest Christian 52-27 on Tuesday. Christian Hunnicutt had 21 points and five steals and Dee Terrell added nine points and six teals in the win. The boys (6-14, 4-4 region) also got a win over Greenforest Christian, 75-49. Landmark will host W.D. Mohammed tonight.
