Registration for next year’s Coweta County kindergartners and pre-kindergartners will be held through March 12 through 23 at district elementary schools.

Elementary schools will register new students during that period on Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. To accommodate work schedules, all schools will also hold an expanded registration day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 20.

Pre-K students in the Atkinson, Elm Street, and Jefferson Parkway district will register at Jefferson Parkway. All other students should be registered at their distrct schools (call 770-254-2820 to inquire about about school districts).

To regsiter a child for the first time in Coweta county Schools, parents will need to bring:

· A certified (state) copy of child’s birth certificate.

· An Affidavit of Residence (to be obtained at the school)

· Two items from the following list for address verification:

Property tax records which indicate the location of the residence.

Mortgage documents or a security deed which indicates the location of the residence.

Apartment or home lease or rent receipt indicating the current address.

Current electric bill or application for electricity service showing the current address.

Voter precinct identification card or other voter documentation indicating the current address

· Child’s Social Security Card

· State ID or Drivers License of parent or legal guardian registering student

· Custody papers (if applicable)

Coweta County students will also need an Immunization Certificate (Georgia Form 3231) and a Hearing-Dental-Vision Certificate (Geogia Form 3300) by the first day of the 2007-08 school year.

School System pre-kindergarten classes funded by the state of Georgia have limited enrollment. As in past years, schools that have more Pre-K registrants than class slots will hold a lottery drawing for enrollment in the Pre-K class.

That lottery drawing will be held at each school’s media center, as necessary, March 23, at 1 p.m. The names of students not chosen by lottery for available class slots will be placed on a waiting list.

For more information, parents should contact their district elementary school. After School Programs are also available at Coweta County Schools, and parents can inquire about fees and times at their district school.
