Another new year has arrived, and with it another list of resolutions for millions of Americans. For many at least one resolution will remain the same as past years, to lose weight. Most are hoping for a physical transformation. For others it has become a matter of medical necessity.

Over the past few years World Gym has evolved into a ONE-STOP-SHOP for total health and fitness, offering certified personal trainers, a full range of workout equipment and fitness classes, saunas and steam rooms, tanning beds, a smoothie bar and much more.

The World Gym team believes people interested in purchasing gym memberships deserve the most out of those memberships and that most people have become savvy when shopping around and comparing gym features. That is why World Gym continually works to bring new and motivating programs and features to its members.

In addition to treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, and weight machines of all types, the FULL Scale Health Club Facility offers so much more. Between three locations in Fayetteville and Peachtree City, over 145 classes featuring 27 different styles are offered to members weekly. Classes, including Belly Dancing, Muscle Challenge, Group and Freestyle Step, Kick Boxing, Group Power, D.I.S.C., Cycling and Group Groove - a fusion of club, urban and Latin dance styles - are led by a talented group of instructors with a long list of certifications and a sincere desire to help each and every one attending their classes. World Gym also offers Silver Sneakers® classes which are specifically designed to target health and physical fitness thru Heart Smart Low & Flow, Step & Stretch and Fitness 2 for our Senior population. Other amenities include two Racquetball Courts, a Ladies-Only workout area, a Boxing area, a Jacuzzi and a Junior-size Olympic heated Lap Pool offering various water classes.
Included in World's Aqua Schedule are specialty classes focusing on arthritis and fibromyalgia.

Members can relieve stress through massage and classes such as Pilates, Yoga and Group Centergy which are designed to bring much needed stress relief to the body, as well as concentrate on building the core strength vitally important to posture and back health. Whether members or guests need help with an aching back or to relieve tension build-up, the well-trained staff of Massage Therapists can also help bring relief. This service is available to non-members as well as members.

A few of the 'little extras' offered with membership includes orientation classes and child care. Each of our FREE Orientation Classes are taught by certified personal trainers and offered to each new member. Taught in small groups, members at any level of exercise are shown the proper and safe way to use equipment. Childcare is also available at each location where member's children are also “special” and can enjoy the “Story Time Lady” during her weekly visits to read to the children as well as other seasonal projects including visits from the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. The Fourth of July Flag Coloring Contest was especially successful when all who participated were declared “The Winner” and received free smoothies.

“We believe our members are SPECIAL and deserve to be treated so,” says Kim Hershey, World Gym General Manager. “We concentrate not only meeting our member's expectations, but exceeding those expectations.”

One of the features that really makes World Gym stand out from its competitors is the addition last year of a complete balanced nutrition program. “Many gyms offer various means of exercise, but do not offer any assistance when it comes to education on the importance of balanced nutrition,” explains Hershey.

Under the direction of Patricia Woody, our Certified Nutrition Coach and Wellness Consultant, the All About You program makes you rethink the way you eat without dieting! Think of your present total health plan as a puzzle. These puzzle pieces pertain to your cardio workouts, your strength training as well as your group exercise, but what about your Balanced Nutrition? The All About You program fits all the pieces together to give you a full picture of success. Patricia educates each client how to make better choices, maximize their workouts and lead healthier lives by using the “three P's” - Proper Nutrition, Productive Exercise and Positive Motivation. Through 12 one-on-one sessions, clients learn their specific daily calorie need (intake) and their expenditure (output) to maximize their personal results and over the course of their meetings, are able to change their negative eating habits, commit to regular workouts and make a total lifestyle change. Clients are provided a daily guideline along with a Nutrition/Exercise Journal and Nutrition Software to help them create accountability for themselves. “Patricia has the heart of gold and the knowledge of a Pro to help you with whatever your nutritional needs may be,” says Hershey. In 2006, the All About You program, designed for both men and women, provided clients the means to write their own success stories on a daily basis. People just like you including flight attendants, pilots, nurses, real estate agents, retirees, homemakers, students and more put their health first and gained the knowledge and motivation to achieve a total lifestyle balance. Client results and testimonials can be found on the web site under the Nutrition Center for review.

“All About You is the best nutrition program I've found because it tailors eating guides to MY specific needs,” comments Ellen Pugh, one of the many 2006 All About You success stories. “My eating plan is based on my needs and my habits. I'm loosing inches all over, lowering my body fat and building a stronger body than I thought I could!”

Today more Americans are learning that the benefits of exercise and proper nutrition include not only loosing weight and looking great, but more importantly the reversal of many medical conditions that now plague millions of Americans. With proper nutrition and exercise, conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, back and joint pains, high cholesterol and more can be brought under control and in many cases eliminated all together.

“My wife and I were both overweight with medical issues when we decided to see Patricia,” said John Isabel., Sr., another successful client. “At our final measurement in 12 weeks, I lost over 17 total inches and over 23 pounds while my wife lost 14.5 inches. To date, I have lost over 50 lbs. and in excess of 20 inches.” He goes on to explain that with a doctor's approval he has been able to eliminate two pain medications prescribed after back surgery as well as Lipitor for high blood pressure. His wife's blood sugar dropped to normal levels after eight weeks on the balanced nutrition program.

Woody began working with others after an introduction to a nutritionist led to her losing 24 inches and five dress sizes. For many of her clients, working with someone who has been in the same situation and faced the same obstacles is important. “I'm there to teach my clients and provide them the tools needed for success as well as to keep them motivated and get them over the bumps that they're going to encounter,” explains Woody. “It is important for people to know this is not a diet but an education in living their normal lifestyles in the healthiest ways.”

She goes on to explain that diets are a deprivation of one or many things. They cause more problems than they help, including irritability, hunger, sleeplessness and added stress. With a nutrition program, you can create balance throughout the body by reducing body fat percentage, losing inches and size without hunger. Additional benefits of a nutrition program include increased energy, restful sleep, and stress reduction.

Sessions also include guidance on applying new found knowledge to restaurant outings as well as a one-on-one trip to the supermarket with Woody to learn nutritional values and food label information. After completing their 12 sessions, clients have the option of continuing with Woody thru several maintenance sessions available on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis.

All About You is available to non-members as well as members at all three locations. Woody sees her clients in World Gym's Fayetteville and Peachtree City location. Although a gym membership is not required to participate in the nutrition program, the location is ideal because it allows people to combine education of health and nutrition with the fitness components the gym already provides.

To help members make working out a priority even with the busiest schedules, World Gym will implement one of its biggest changes beginning February 1st when the operating hours of the Fayetteville and Peachtree City locations will be extended. In Fayetteville, Sunday hours will extend from its current 12 pm to 6 pm schedule to open at 10 am and close at 7 pm. And for those who work non-traditional hours and still want the opportunity to stay in shape, the Peachtree City location will begin operating 24 hours during weekdays, beginning each Monday morning at 4 am through each Friday evening at 10 pm. In addition to extended weekday hours, the Peachtree City location will stay open until 9 pm each Saturday and Sunday.

All About You Balanced Nutrition has also earned the support of a well-known fitness expert. In 2007, Woody teams up with Lee Haney, eight-time Mr. Olympia and past Chairman to the President's Fitness Council, in offering the best in nutritional and professional training services. If your goals are to obtain optimum health through proper nutrition, Woody will analyze your current status and create an eating plan that meets your nutritional needs while Haney creates an exercise and fitness plan centered around you and your fitness goals. This joint endeavor will offer clients the opportunity to learn and achieve results from two of the top experts in the fields of fitness and health. You can contact Lee Haney at leeinfo@leehaney.com or call 770-460-8844.
