Ask your heart questions at the ‘Healthy Heart Fair'

Cardiovascular disease accounted for 34 percent of deaths in Georgia in 2004, andGeorgia’s CVD’s rate was 14 percent higher than the national rate. To educate the community on the risks of heart disease,Piedmont Fayette Hospital will host a free Healthy Heart Fair on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the hospital’s West Entrance.

The Healthy Heart Fair will offer several health screenings, including blood pressure, heart rate, cholesterol, glucose and body mass index and will provide nutrition counseling and education materials on stress management and smoking cessation.

Tours of the hospital’s new cardiology expansion also will be available. Fayette County Fire and EMS officials will be in attendance to discuss the county’s 911 system and suspected cardiac emergencies.
