Atlanta-based restaurant chain Chick-fil-A® is stepping up measures to offer a more sanitary dining environment for its customers, particularly children. Participating Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the country are now offering complimentary children’s placemats and sanitizing hand wipes as an added layer of protection to help combat the spread of germs among customers.

As part of a partnership with Huntersville, N.C.-based Neat Solutions, Inc., participating Chick-fil-A restaurants will offer a free Table Topper® stick-in-place plastic placemat to adults with children under the age of three. The Chick-fil-A Children’s Placemat is a disposable sanitary eating surface that makes eating from the tabletop convenient and easy for parents and kids. The placemat is designed to help babies and toddlers eat finger foods safely, and is ideal for kids three and under using tray-less high chairs. The placemat also features educational games that parents can play with children while eating, as well as information on Chick-fil-A’s Kid’s Meal options.

“Parents love Table Topper because it solves a problem that no parent can prevent despite their best efforts,” said Jim Beaty, President & CEO of Neat Solutions, Inc. “Moms and dads that frequent Chick-fil-A have already expressed great excitement about our partnership with Chick-fil-A and we are pleased to be working with them to serve up fun and safety.” The award-winning Table Topper was created when a mother of three took her infant son out to eat, and found that after months of sterilizing bottles her baby wound up eating directly from restaurant tabletops. She solved the problem by inventing the stick-on Table Topper placemat and starting Neat Solutions, Inc.

Chick-fil-A also is encouraging hand hygiene before meals. The chain has partnered with GOJO, the inventors of PURELL® to offer co-branded sanitizing hand wipes at participating Chick-fil-A locations to encourage customers to clean and sanitize their hands prior to eating. Chick-fil-A franchisees operating stand-alone restaurants now have the option of installing a special dispenser adjacent to their playground areas that has individual PURELL® Sanitizing Hand Wipe packets for parents to help their children to use to clean their hands after playing. Restaurants also will offer the wipes to on-the-go customers ordering through the drive-thru, as well as hand them out to customers in the dining rooms.

PURELL® Sanitizing Hand Wipes also will be available at the chain’s mall locations, where it is more difficult for customers to wash their hands before eating in food courts that no longer have easy access to restroom facilities. PURELL is America’s #1 brand of instant hand sanitizer and offering PURELL in a restaurant does convey a commitment to health and cleanliness.

Online surveys conducted in March and June, asked respondents what they would think if a restaurant offered PURELL Instant Hand Sanitizer. The survey results revealed that 88% said they’d be comforted to know that the restaurant staff uses PURELL, 82% would believe the restaurant cares about their well-being, and 79% said they would feel better about the restaurant’s cleanliness.
