The city of Senoia is on the verge of completing a deal that could provide sewerage capacity to the massive McIntosh Village development proposed for Fayette’s doorstep.

Senoia officials announced Monday night that a special meeting is set for Jan. 29 at 5 p.m. to possibly complete a deal between the city, Reese Developers and Coweta County that would allocate up to 1 million gallons of sewer capacity to Coweta County.

Since the McIntosh Village proposal is in the unincorporated county, Coweta County would be a sewer customer of Senoia and allocate the majority of the capacity to Reese.

Senoia is seeking to build a new wastewater treatment plant off Chestlehurst Road, and if Monday’s negotiations are successful, would petition the EPD for a 2 million-gallon treatment facility that would empty into Line Creek below the planned Lake McIntosh.

McIntosh Village’s plans call for more than 3,000 residences and over 700,000 square feet of retail and office space. The village will be on the Coweta side of an extended TDK Boulevard at McIntosh Trail.

The development has sparked widespread opposition in Fayette because of the potential traffic problems that could result from thousands of cars spilling into Peachtree City on a daily basis.

The cost for the new sewer plant could run up to $16 million, and Reese has pledged $6 million to the city of Senoia for its share of the treatment capacity.

Senoia officials are hopeful that Reese will contribute up to $8 million because of the land acquisition costs and costs associated with running an interceptor line to the project.

In other news, Senoia completed its annexation right up to the Fayette line Monday night by passing the second reading for a 152-acre tract along Ga. Highway 85. The tract — which lies completely within Coweta County — will feature 141 homes and is being developed by Peachtree City’s Chadwick Homes.
