Brent Ritter assumes duties as youth minister at Providence

Brent Ritter, former associate pastor of college and career ministries at Stonebriar Community Church in Chattanooga, has joined the staff of Providence United Methodist Church in Fayetteville as youth minister.

Prior to his Chattanooga assignment, Ritter and his wife, Kelley lived in Richmond, Va. where he served his church as assistant to the senior pastor and interim youth director.

“I have a passion for youth,” Ritter says. “I think that in them lies the future of the church and ultimately our society as a whole. I believe that youth have the potential to do great things in the kingdom of God, a potential that is often overlooked, but one I have seen engaged in great power.”

Dr. Jim Ellison, senior pastor of Providence says, “Brent’s passion to see students connect and strengthen their relationship with God was evident in his first interview. Our search committee felt from the beginning that he was the man God was sending our way.”

An accomplished musician and composer, Ritter plays guitar, piano, and drums and is an expert in the use of computer technology including sound, visual and lighting systems.

Ritter will be involved with student activities at Providence which include IMPACT, a program for mid and senior high students on Sundays from 6-8 p.m.; Breakfast Club for middle school students on Tuesday at 7:15 a.m.; and senior high small groups meeting on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m.
