The Grace Life Ministry of First Baptist Church, Peachtree City, will host a Small Group Leadership Conference Friday and Saturday, Jan. 19 and 20, led by Lew Gervais, of Palm Bay, Fla. Gervais has more than 25 years experience working with small groups. He is a licensed CAPP (Certified Addictions Prevention Professional).

“As a former substance abuse and heroine addict, Lew speaks with authority to relevant issues,” a spokesperson said. “He will be covering the nuts and bolts regarding small group leadership, such as obstacles to effective listening, defining your target group, creating a safe environment within your group, the dysfunctional family unit, and other difficult situations.”

Some 80 percent of the information presented at the conference will apply to small group dynamics, and 20 percent more specifically to support and recovery groups. Small group leaders should benefit and be more effective in their role as a leader/facilitator.

The conference will begin Friday, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m. and will continue until 9:30 p.m. Saturday’s conference will be held from 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

The cost is $25 and includes light refreshments Friday, with a continental breakfast and lunch provided on Saturday.

Limited space is available. Early reservations are recommended.
