Besting a field of 85 contestants, Georgia State University marketing/management major, Brittany Swann of Peachtree City, captured the title of Miss Georgia USA 2007 in Newnan, Ga. on Nov. 11, 2006. Competing as Miss Peachtree City USA, she won the honor to represent the Peach State at the nationally televised Miss USA pageant. She will compete live on NBC on March 23 for the chance to represent the USA in the Miss Universe pageant later this year. Swann competed in the 2006 pageant and placed as third runner up. In an effort to earn her shot at the Miss USA title, she utilized her marketing skills to revamp her strategy and emerge victorious. She enjoys weight training, cooking and entertaining. “I would like to continue my work with the youth in getting them more interested in involvement in their communities,” stated Swann when asked about her plans for the year as Miss Georgia USA. She further stated that “self esteem as related to health and nutrition is an issue for young adults, especially young women that I am particularly concerned with focusing on during my year.” Swann’s ultimate career aspiration is to work in the entertainment or fashion industry. She presently works as a model as she pursues academics. She would also like to pursue her MBA once finished with her undergraduate program. When asked how she was enjoying her new job as Georgia’s representative in the nation’s second oldest pageant, she replied, “It has been so amazing and I cannot wait to do even more.” Swann also assumes double duty as she was the official Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Queen in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Parade and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Game. Amidst her busy schedule as Miss Georgia USA, Swann plans to remain actively involved in the Boy’s and Girl’s Club as leadership board director. She was featured as an emerging leader for the class of 2003 and MLK Day of Service group leader and volunteer. A member of the American Marketing Association, she is also on the dean’s list. login to post comments |
